I believe great design can help us build a better world.
My ultimate career ambition is to design innovative, socially conscious projects around the world using sustainable methods that demonstrate the power of design to improve lives.
In the Tauranga office, there is a real and tangible mandate to impact and improve the built environment of the place I call home. I hope to design, develop, and change the cityscape for my children and my children’s children.
Technology has changed our industry massively. I think we’ll ultimately see construction drawings become obsolete, with the majority of buildings instead being delivered in 3D and built from 3D model platforms.
One of my professional heroes is Oscar Niemeyer, who I met on an architecture trip to Brazil. When the rest of the world was at war, Oscar was designing buildings which, even to this day, are incredibly modern and pushed the construction materials to their absolute maximum.
My childhood paper-run was probably one of the strongest influences in choosing this career. On my route, I biked past houses under construction every day. I developed a fascination for architecture through walking around these homes that were yet to be framed, and watching them develop.
Outside of work I love all things in nature, especially board sports. I can’t wait till my three kids can snowboard, wakeboard and surf with me.
