WHAT I LOVE ABOUT INTERIOR DESIGN IS THAT IT’S DIRECTLY LINKED TO A PERSON’S OVERALL EXPERIENCE OF A SPACE.
Whether it’s a hotel, an office, a retail space or a home, the goal is always to create something that sparks an emotion and keeps people coming back.
I have been fortunate to travel widely, which has exposed me to different countries and cultures. When living in London and Dubai I specialised in hotel and apartment design, where the underlying brief was to create spaces that are functional as well as memorable and unique.
What influences me? Even though he had a very different aesthetic to mine, Gaudi’s Casa Milà in Barcelona shows how design can be infused with playfulness. And Dubai’s Green Planet shows how far you can push the boundaries of possibility, to the extent of creating a rainforest in the desert.
Outside work I’m interested in health and wellness. I cycle, run and dabble in triathlon as well as working as a fitness instructor, where I enjoy helping others find strength and happiness by being active and challenging themselves.
There’s a connection with my design role at Ignite, because it’s always about people. What makes people happy, what brings them joy, what supports them in their daily life.
