Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Benje Feehan as Associate Director. Benje joins the specialised residential team and will be responsible for leading major projects within this sector.
Benje has significant international experience as an architect – in particular, managing complex residential and light commercial design projects in the United States. He most recently held the role of Senior Architect at EST-11 Architecture in Dallas, Texas, and was also an Adjunct Professor at Lawrence Technological University in Detroit.
“We’re excited to welcome on-board Benje Feehan who brings with him a deep understanding and appreciation for the urban regeneration and housing projects,” said Michael Bilsborough, Director at Ignite Architects.
“Benje’s appointment is reflective of Ignite Architect’s continual growth within the residential sector and his extensive experience makes him a strong addition to the team.”
Born in New Zealand, Benje holds a Masters of Architecture (with distinction) from Lawrence Technological University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (cum laude) from the University of Texas. In 2011, he was also invited to participate in the prestigious Dallas AIA Young Leaders programme.
One of Benje’s career highlights include the opportunity to design socially and environmentally responsible architectural solutions for some of Dallas City’s most pressing issues during his time as Associate Director of non-profit design studio, bcWORKSHOP.
These projects received numerous awards, including five LEED Platinum Certifications, multiple local AIA design awards, National AIA/HUD design award and the Rudy Bruner Silver Medal for Urban Excellence.
Away from work, Benje focuses on spending time with his family. They particularly enjoy exploring the outdoors and are looking forward to experiencing the scenery and attractions that New Zealand is renowned for.
