Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Carey as Associate. Nathan adds considerable strength to Ignite’s specialist retail team.

Nathan has significant experience in retail, exhibition and hospitality design. He has worked with major retail brands in the UK, Europe and Australasia including Guess, Optus, McDonald’s and Quiksilver.

His most recent role was as Design Director at Design Clarity, a retail and hospitality design agency located in Melbourne. Key projects during his tenure there included leading the design of the Bonds stores for Pacific Brands, as well as a new-look flagship bank branch for Westpac.

“We’re excited to welcome Nathan to Ignite,” said Grant Armstrong, Director at Ignite Architects.  “Nathan brings a strong focus on user centred design for both local and international retail environments.”

“His strong product design background, combined with an outstanding ability to translate a brand story into an engaging customer experience, aligns with Ignite’s core customer and commercial design values – and makes him a strong addition to our growing retail team.”

Nathan has a particular interest in user centered design and how it can be applied to physical environments through the application of contextual and observational research. This approach results in a greater, more memorable customer experience.

Born in New Zealand, Nathan has a Bachelor of Design from Massey University with a major in Industrial Design. Away from work, he enjoys surfing and being around the water.
