Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Damian Simpson as Associate Director. Damian is a strong addition to the Ignite Tauranga team and will lead major aged care and health care projects.

Damian has extensive experience in the aged care and health care sectors and has worked on numerous large-scale projects for District Health Boards and aged care providers.

Prior to joining Ignite, Damian was a Senior Architect and responsible for developments including the Selwyn Heights Retirement Village, which he worked on over a period of nine years. This saw him having integral involvement with the master planning of the 5.5ha site, as well as acting as project architect and contracts administrator.

“We’re excited to welcome Damian to our Tauranga team,” said Adam Taylor, Director at Ignite Architects. “Damian brings a high level of leadership and significant experience in the health and aged care sectors which will further bolster Ignite’s capability in the Bay of Plenty region.”

Along with his considerable commercial expertise, Damian is also a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP). He has a particular interest in ensuring buildings are high-performing, energy efficient and incorporate sustainable practices wherever practically possible.

Having recently moved to Tauranga with his family, Damian was quick to appreciate the many advantages of the region.

He believes there are numerous design opportunities to enhance Tauranga’s urban planning – particularly in achieving a successful city intensification and a true connection with the water’s edge.
