Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Boyce as Associate. His role reflects the continued expansion of Ignite’s specialist residential portfolio.

Michael has worked extensively within the industry and has specialised in Auckland residential design projects. He has spent the last 16 years predominantly running his own architecture practices.

He was most recently Director at Gel Architects, a collaborative architecture studio. This business was established through a merger with his own practice, Distill Architecture, which he founded in 2000.

“We’re excited to welcome Michael Boyce to the Ignite residential team,” said Michael Bilsborough, Director at Ignite Architects. He added, “Michael brings with him a broad experience in the multi-unit residential sector, having delivered a wide range of apartment and townhouse developments across the Auckland region. His appointment strengthens our delivery team and is reflective of Ignite Architect’s commitment to supporting the residential sector.”

Michael Boyce has a keen interest in creating buildings with meaning. To achieve this, he starts each design project with a process of discovery to pinpoint the precise needs, interests and motivations of the building’s users. He then incorporates aspects of these elements into his design as a unique source of inspiration.

As he designs in urban landscapes, he enjoys the complete opposite when away from work and can normally be found out on the harbour sailing with his family.
