Ignite Architects announces appointment of new Associate

“Olivia brings extensive practical experience and technical knowledge to the special projects team.”

Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Olivia Pearson as Associate. A Registered Architect (New Zealand and Western Australia), Olivia will prove a key asset to Ignite’s special projects team.

Olivia has amassed significant expertise in the design management and technical side of architecture, with a career portfolio including significant projects in the Middle East (Abu Dhabi), Southeast Asia (Vietnam and China) and Perth, as well as Auckland.

Along with her prowess in working in a 3D virtual environment, Olivia also has a strong interest in sustainable design. She has managed numerous sustainable submissions, including projects located in countries where the idea of design sustainability was just emerging.

This was demonstrated through her work as project architect and sustainability consultant for the Green One UN House in Vietnam, which was a new headquarters to house 15 different UN agencies under the one roof. This was Vietnam’s first sustainable building and the design drew inspiration from the local culture, as evidenced through its unique interpretation of terraced rice paddies. The building ultimately achieved the top ‘Gold Lotus’ rating under Vietnam’s then-new Green Building Council system.

“We are excited to have Olivia join the Ignite team,” said Adam Taylor, Director at Ignite Architects. “Olivia brings extensive practical experience and technical knowledge to the special projects team. Her commitment to design management, and strength in leadership, will see her delivering projects of significant scale and complexity.”

Olivia is particularly drawn to designs which honour, and showcase, the materials used. She advocates the importance of providing a true reflection of the local environment and local culture, as well as the materials used.

Born in New Zealand, Olivia has a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Construction (majoring in Construction Management). When not immersed in the design environment, she enjoys tennis, travelling and the challenge of working towards the completion of her own home renovation project.
