Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicky Deller as People and Culture Manager. Nicky will lead Ignite’s new Human Resources (HR) department and will oversee the development of employee engagement programmes across its four offices in New Zealand and Australia.
Along with helping enhance the company’s strong culture, she will also hold responsibility for recruitment as Ignite continues to expand its presence across Australasia. Her role strengthens the Ignite shared services team, which provides support to the wider practice.
Jeremy Whelan, Managing Director of Ignite, said that Nicky’s appointment is a significant milestone for the company, as it represents both a strong growth story for Ignite, as well as their unwavering desire to be a leading employer in all aspects of a professional practice. “We are exceptionally pleased to have secured a People & Culture Manager of Nicky’s seniority and diverse background to join the Ignite senior leadership group. We are always on the lookout outside our own industry boundaries for new ideas to improve our business, and Nicky brings a fresh approach to how we think about the development and growth of our people,” said Jeremy.
Nicky has international experience in HR, including in leadership roles. One of Nicky’s career highlights includes working at Eden Park as Staffing Manager, managing the recruitment of thousands of staff, including staffing for the first NRL Nines. She was also responsible for continuous development programmes to ensure the constant improvement of the Stadium’s personnel processes.
Nicky cut her teeth in HR at a food manufacturing company in the UK, which saw her establish a new HR department from the ground up. This included developing and implementing all the HR policies and procedures.
Nicky holds a Bachelor of Science from Otago University and a Graduate Diploma in Human Resources. Away from work, she focuses on spending time with her family. A keen foodie, Nicky enjoys cooking for family and friends and experimenting with cuisines she has picked up from her world travels.
