Ignite Architects is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Marriott (Registered Architect, RAIA) as a Director. Jason will also oversee operations of the Ignite Sydney office and assumes this responsibility from long-standing Ignite Director, Peter Harrison. The two will work closely together over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition in leadership.

Jason has over 20 years of international architecture and design experience, and has spent more than a decade in senior executive roles.

Based in China since 2004, he has worked both client and consultant side to deliver projects of varying scale and complexity throughout the Asia Pacific region. Before returning to Australia, he oversaw the execution, design and delivery of notable projects for significant global companies.

“We are excited to welcome Jason as a Director to Ignite. He brings an extensive skillset to the leadership team which further strengthens our capabilities as a practice. Jason’s appointment will foster new opportunities for Ignite, and will attribute to the continuation of our growth both locally and abroad,” said Jeremy Whelan, Managing Director at Ignite Architects.

Jason worked in Adelaide, Alice Springs, Darwin, and Sydney before moving to China to work on design projects for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He then established two international design practices in China, primarily working on large scale mixed use developments. He was also Lead Architect for a global Fortune 100 company, which saw him provide overall design management for major corporate real estate projects throughout greater China.

Born in Australia, Jason is a Registered Architect, an active member of the Australian Institute of Architects, and a past Board Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Beijing.

He has been a keynote speaker at various design conferences and several of his projects have featured in premier publications, including The Sydney Morning Herald, Inside Magazine and World Architecture.
