New technology is what drives me.

As a technician with Ignite, I deal in information. I am driven to stay at the forefront of documentation technology so that everyone involved in a project can collaborate and coordinate effortlessly.

Throughout my 30-year career, I have led teams on the training and implementation of CAD/BIM and Revit and see this technology as a vital way to add value before, during and after construction . I have played a role in numerous public and private sector projects throughout New Zealand.

I was a prolific drawer as a kid, so I think I was always destined for a career in technical drawing. Born and raised in Edinburgh, I grew up surrounded by the deep heritage of the city's architecture.

Now as a Christchurch resident, I find myself in a city that is starting afresh. I have worked on many projects relating to rebuilds, reparation and assessment following the earthquake and feel deeply invested in the emergence of the new central Christchurch.

I’m inspired by daring design but ultimately, I believe that a building must be pragmatic and fit for purpose.

If my design career ended tomorrow, then I would aspire to improve my golf game. And to travel more. My favourite city in the world to visit is New York, but I love nothing more than getting back home to Edinburgh.
