It’s easy to do your job when you love the firm you work for.
My role is multi-faceted and sees me work across all projects, and with all teams, to take the essence of Ignite to market.
My experience in architecture and design has proved the ideal background. That starts with understanding how good architecture equals a healthy process and the importance of placemaking.
Ignite has achieved significant growth, which means there are new people, projects, regions and typologies. Our strong values, unique culture and progressive approach have remained unchanged as we have evolved as a practice. It makes me proud to work here.
The experience I gained from starting an architectural draughting business while I was at university taught me critical business skills early on – particularly the importance of building great relationships. It’s an essential requirement in the work I do with the wider industry to share Ignite’s expertise, key projects and achievements.
I think that this is an exciting time for architecture and we are seeing the reimagining of spaces that shape an identity within a social fabric. Projects like Wynyard Quarter in Auckland, and the city centre that’s re-emerging in Christchurch, demonstrate the growth in design innovation and an emphasis on urban placemaking.
Away from the office, I love spending time with my family, and doing anything outdoorsy and sporty – especially snow and water sports. My parents live in Wanaka so it’s a perfect spot for getting in some snowboarding in winter and wakeboarding in summer.
