I have always had an interest in architecture and design.
When I was little, I loved drawing plans of houses. Then, when I left school, I started out draughting before going on to study architecture. Since graduating, my career focus has evolved from architecture to graphic design to marketing.
I’m really lucky that, in my current role, I get to pursue all of my professional interests. I love working at Ignite because the practice has an awesome culture and team environment, with some exciting projects on the boards.
When I’m at work, I’m pretty focussed on making things happen! As Ignite’s Marketing Manager, I deal with pretty much everybody within the business. I enjoy the challenges that come with any project, and I love interacting with people and working together to achieve great outcomes. My background in architecture, mixed with design, also gives me a good base of knowledge to draw on for both day-to-day outputs and longer term goals in our marketing plan.
I don’t have any particular professional heroes, but there are always people you meet along the way, who you draw inspiration from and look up to. I think that integrity of character is everything.
I am really fascinated with public spaces and creating something out of nothing. I think the High Line in New York is a perfect example of this. The overgrown elevated railway track has been repurposed into a park which has transformed and rejuvenated surrounding areas, and is a popular attraction for visitors.
Away from work, I love spending time with my family. I have an active toddler, who keeps me very busy, and we’re currently building a new house in Whangaparaoa, which has so far been a fun and challenging experience!
I love doing anything outdoorsy and sporty - especially snow and water sports. My parents live in Wanaka so it’s a perfect spot for snowboarding in winter and wakeboarding in summer.
