This project meets all Ministry, Council and Code requirements. The relocatable village has achieved code of compliance and is currently occupied, and the main buildings are currently being tendered to selected contractors. Issues around staged roll growth and redesign of the original main block to suit MLE requirements were identified.

Ignite worked with stakeholders to develop the approved plan, which incorporates a new student ‘village’ with a series of two-storey teaching blocks and additions to the existing main block. Vehicular and pedestrian circulation across the site has been reorganised to ensure that vehicles and students are safely separated. The master plan also allows for progressive roll growth so that additional teaching spaces can be provided without creating major disruptions.

Redeveloping a fully functional school was identified as an issue and the design, consenting, and construction is occurring over three stages to resolve that issue. To manage roll growth and student decanting, the first stage is the creation of a ‘relocatable village’, a cluster of long-term relocatable buildings centred on a covered outdoor learning space. This will be followed by the upgrading of the existing Main Block, which in turn will be followed by the provision of a new two-level, 6-teaching space block.
