In the UK, I worked on Sun Microsystems’ £60 million office and campus development. Another key project was with Open University on the redesign and relocation of their London head office, taking 100 staff from a 35,000ft² cellular building to a 15,000ft² open plan building.
I have been involved in a number of resort projects in Fiji, in particular the new restaurant at the Lomani Resort, and The Tokoriki Island Resort refurbishment.
I find inspiration in Geoffrey Bawa’s designs, and the way he thinks about the local environment, his consideration of scale and materiality, and his use of local materials and passive techniques for ventilation.
One highlight away from work would be the three years I spent sailing around the world with my family. The children were 7 and 9, and we sailed from Europe via the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean, then through North and Central America, and on to Australia and New Zealand.
