Architecture is a life-long learning experience, which suits me well!
There is an industry saying that architects love their 'next' project the most, and it certainly rings true for me. I see our role as authentically listening to the people we work with and always striving to develop our skills, challenge our limitations and have an open mind.
I joined Ignite in 2015 as an Architectural Graduate and it’s proven the perfect fit. The company values strongly align with my personal beliefs and the people are endlessly inspiring. It makes it easy to love my job and take pride in working here.
Ignite strongly support professional development and I’ve played a key role in strengthening the practice’s Graduate Development Programme to assist graduates through the process of becoming a Registered Architect. It has been a pleasure learning from our future leaders, and watching them grow as designers and professionals.
I’m a member and on the regional committee of the New Zealand Institute of Architects. Helping establish and organise the inaugural NZIA Festival of Architecture in the Tauranga and Bay of Plenty regions allowed me to share my love for the industry and connect with a range of people through great design.
Tauranga is a beautiful city with remarkable communities. There is a feeling of anticipation here and the level of growth is unprecedented. It’s an exciting time to live and work in Tauranga as we have the chance to shape the city for our future.
It’s fair to say that having a desire to develop your skills and participate in the wider industry does not always leave much downtime. When we get the chance, my partner and I enjoy cycling, running and heading to the beach at the Mount.
