Just like our behaviours, our buildings are always evolving. To respond to this evolution and create excellent design, I believe that you must first listen and observe. Great architecture is more than just masterful design – it stems from meaningful co-creation and the willingness to learn. It takes a combination of all skills and knowledge from different stakeholders to realise the vision of a building. I thoroughly enjoy this exchange of knowledge. It means we can take our clients on the design journey. It is a real team effort.
Over my 20+ year career, I have significantly contributed to the built environment of New Zealand. Working with high-calibre clients both here and overseas, I champion collaboration, resilience, and sustainability. This approach also underpins my own research.
I love putting pen to paper. Sketching stimulates my thoughts and facilitates unexpected creativity, which can help unlock a site’s potential. The years I spent in Germany early in my career has inspired my appreciation for simple and durable detailing.
