Nothing is more inspiring than intelligent architecture.
I am a design-orientated architect who takes inspiration from intelligent architecture around the globe. Because of this, I am often involved in Ignite’s concept design work.
In some ways, architects are like psychologists as we must delve into the minds of our clients and discover the intention behind a building. I love to work through this process before I turn to software and 3D modelling.
I was born in Gdynia, a port city in Poland. Gdynia developed rapidly to become one of Poland’s largest cities, and I see many similarities with what is happening today in Christchurch.
My mother was an architect who loved her work. This inspired me; and along with my love of design and art, I think I was always destined to become an architect.
As architects, we have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to urban placemaking when we understand the ‘why’. This was very much my belief when designing Christchurch’s North Methodist Church, a project which won the NZIA Local and National Public Architecture Award.
I have worked in Europe, Asia and New Zealand and have always found myself drawn to architecture with purpose and intention; where a building has a reason for being that goes beyond budgets or street appeal.
