This extensive mixed-use masterplanning project for The Warehouse Group completely redefines its existing, high profile site in one of Auckland’s premier shopping districts, Newmarket.
At a high level, the masterplan includes a variety of retail spaces, residential apartments, a hotel, office space and an underground carpark.
The retail precinct is located on the western half of the site and occupies the ground and first floors. With a total area of more than 18,000sqm, the space provides the opportunity to offer a vibrant mix of street-facing specialty stores, laneway-style hospitality retail, a metro-style supermarket, large format stores, and service retail.
Above the retail levels are three levels of commercial office space, which are expected to create nearly 10,000sqm of gross floor area. There are also two levels of serviced apartment space, offering 40 apartments over a gross floor area of more than 1,800sqm.
The residential precinct occupies the eastern half of the site and includes approximately 200 apartments, spread over seven levels. The design for this area of the site has been formed on a podium that can be separately staged and developed after the retail project is complete.
Within the current scheme, the retail precinct is divided by a three level open air covered arcade, which runs perpendicular to the main street and provides a public pedestrian access route. Below ground level a 360-space, basement carpark building spans three levels and services the entire site.
