Partnering with our long-standing client, Sudima Hotels, Ignite are pleased to have helped deliver these tailored new changing rooms to the Manukau Heat ladies' rugby team.
Ignite have been working with Sudima Hotels and Counties Manukau Rugby Football Union, donating design resources to refurbish the Manukau Heat Ladies’ team changing room facilities.
The original changing rooms were underwhelming and missed basic features such as mirrors, sufficient power points, or private showers. Many of the team weren't using the space, instead going home to shower after games.
The new changing rooms are repainted and re-floored with shelving, a three-door fridge, three shower cubicles, a double vanity, bath towels, and toiletries. The main room, with provision for a laptop and a 55-inch TV positioned for game analysis, also offers multiple power outlets for mobile phone charging and a high-end multi-use sound system. In their discussions with Sudima Hotels and our design team, the players identified that listening to music before games helps them to get energised and ready for success.
The new changing rooms were unveiled to the team on Friday morning, 7th July, following a blessing of the space and speeches from the CMRFU, Sudima Hotels and Ignite Associate Director and Sector Lead Audrey de Fillippis.
Media were present at the unveiling, and the Manukau Heat team were featured on TVNZ’s breakfast segment, discussing their new space.
Audrey says, “We have thoroughly enjoyed unpacking what the team desires for their space and interpreting this into an engaging design, bespoke to their needs.
“When Ignite were first engaged on this project, it was clear to see the Counties Manukau Heat have all the attributes of an incredible team: determination, resilience, and trust in one another. They deserved a facility that reflected this and supports their success on and off the field.”
